Posture Voice

I need to develop a character ...?

I'm in this one-act play, and I play a sort of slacker who shows character everyone that does not care about school, but inside, it really does. Do you guys have any suggestions on how develop my character, as posture, voice, gestures, the way I walk and habits?

The first important step step you must take is to understand your character. You say you have an idea of what it is like, so to really have confidence in what you do and be proud of you as a great artist you need to know who he is inside and out: Within: what happens in his head, why he said certain things, why he feels a certain way and motivation. & Out: Where is he moving on stage, where it moves in history (Where it comes from and where he went) and why it would be some kind of posture, gesture and style of walking. There is always a reason someone says or behaves a certain way. With your description to date - showing him to everyone he does not care about school, but in the inside, it really does (this is only conjecture, the answers come to you and the script): Inside: I get there is a block between him and his education, he claims to be negligent "provoke the school when it applies, he does not get good grades so he does not worry about school and that is why he acts this way. Or is it because the circle his friends, find fun goof off at school and "cause problems and because he does not want to lose, he goes with peer pressure. & out: Someone who claims not to care about something, puts on a front (shield or limit) to prevent others from knowing the truth. It could go to some very grumpy and unsocial, or it could go to some very Obla daa Obla Dee in an attempt to be carefree. These things effect the way he walks. Someone who is cranky is transmitted by having his arms crossed, defying eye contact and a destructive way about them. Someone who is careless may be unfulfilled, sports, general expressions (in the face and arms). Read the script over a few times, then have a play with things you find with. All the best:)
