Men Posture Support

men posture support
What do you think of this quote from Dick Cheney?

Dick Cheney ... went so far as to suggest that the ouster of Mr. Lieberman might encourage "al Qaeda types." "It is an unfortunate development, I think, from the standpoint of the Democratic Party to see a man like Lieberman rejected because of his willingness to support an aggressive posture in terms of our national security strategy,''said Mr. Cheney a telephone interview with news service reporters.

The purpose of the statement was to try and label those who want to withdraw from Iraq as weak in dealing with al Qaeda. Most voters do not have access to the information first hand the effectiveness of the current strategy in Iraq and are likely going to take a decision to vote based on the characterizations made by politicians they support. The Republicans are taking advantage of a division in the Democratic Party on Iraq policy to make Democrats look indecisive. The Democrats are most likely going to do the same thing for Republicans and all Republicans support stay. The real question is whether to withdraw of Iraq will in fact create more opportunities for terrorist attacks and weaken national security. I think most people familiar with the situation believe that the current position is a futile effort and resources of the United States could be used more efficiently with a different strategy. American soldiers are regularly killed and maimed without apparent progress made in stabilizing the region. Attacks occur almost each day, which probably continue so. The current administration seems to feel that maintaining U.S. troops in Iraq keeps the focus on types of Al-Qaeda Iraq too far from the United States. Can you imagine this argument being before we sent troops there? We are going to occupy Iraq while Al-Qaeda we attack there instead of on U.S. soil? Sounds like an argument rather weak to me.
