Mindedness and the Bible - Spiritually
In my first two articles of the breadth of mind and the Bible, I deliberately ignored the spiritual breadth of mind, the Christian is called to win. Well, we're here. Although I do hope you take the time to read the four articles on this subject, it is not necessary that every article is intended to stand on its own. So what is this magnitude spiritual "mind" and how is it acquired?
The start
All responsible person is ... outside of Christ. Only the Creator determines the exact time is responsible for knowing the difference between good and evil. "Your sin remains "
The author of the Bible often uses a physical incident to illustrate a spiritual truth. In the Gospel John, there is an account of Jesus healing a man who had been born blind. Why Christians Stumble Around the start line and some barely grow
When God said: "My thoughts are not your thoughts. Neither are your ways my ways "(Is 55:8), what it means," My thoughts are not your thoughts. Neither are your ways my ways. "He then illustrates by saying:" As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts "(Isaiah 55:9). As we start the race, we know little of his will, ways, thoughts, priorities, the agenda, goals and emotions. The starting line is just that ... the starting line.
The length of the race is equal to how many time it is in this post at the age of conversion. Christian who choose otherwise - quit growing. Many do not even realize ... yet.
Thus, the degree abandons his way - in action and thought - will determine how extent this person real progress in a spiritual-mindedness. God let his own knowledge as they go, what dead meat, he wants to be released. "(If) by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, ye shall live - for all who are led by the Spirit God, this is the son of God "(Romans 8:13,14). And coherence of its own, God is very gracious in these transactions. An exchange of pound of flesh ... for a ton of truth. But the catch is ... the pound of flesh must be released. In this, I am a free will unyielding defender. And Well ... you ... No.
Good or bad, right or wrong, God has determined that Christians grow - Mature - in his mind. Therefore, even the most fervent Christian and honest mistakes will be en route. It would be great if it was if ... but it is so. I do not know why God has decided on such a process of uncontrolled growth. Perhaps to humble ourselves that we are still plagued by a former corrupt nature which rises steadily his head. "If someone thinks there is something - being nothing - he is mistaken "(Gal 6:03). Challenges to the width of the spiritual mind
There are many powers at work to delay growth of a Christian-mindedness. Here's a quick list. You can find more. Some overlap.
Delaying one: his own flesh
There is almost no end to this category. It includes "the jealousy and conflict" (1 Corinthians 3:3) "Selfish ambition" and "arrogance" (Ja 3:14), "bias" (1Ti Ja 2:9 5:21 ET), an endless procession of "the flesh lusts" (1 Pt 2:11), and even just "forgetful hearers" (Ja 1:25). James can be summed up best when he explained why prayers go unanswered. "You ask and do not receive because you ask with wrong motives, so that you can spend it on your pleasures "(Ja 4:3). Even as a Christian, you can still deceive his own heart (Ja 1:26). Fortunately, God knows our heart and has the means to expose to us (Luke 16:15, Romans 8:27 ET 1John 3:20). This is the basis of our department Primary in this age - a single God is extremely interested in ... the ministry of "putting to death the deeds of the body" with the promise you will live "(Romans 8:13) ... and extent of earnings, by extension, in mind.
Delaying 2: hero worship
When working with the carnal Corinthians, Paul says, "each of you says:" I am of Paul, and I am of Apollos, 'and' I am of Cephas, and I am of Christ. Is Christ divided? Paul was not crucified for you, was it? ... Me, my brothers could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as men of flesh, as babes in Christ. "Because of hero worship, they were still stumbling around the starting line. "I gave you milk to drink, not solid food, because you were not yet able to receive it. Even now, you are not yet able "(1 Cor 1:12,13 and 3:1,2).
For decades, I did a lot of work, and the soul of the research, the church organization (political system) and sectarianism. My experience Christian official academic lasted three conservative factions (Presbyterian Church of America, Southern Baptist, and independent Christian church). I am a graduate of two (closed others ... I needed one more year there). All three had the emphasis on Church History and their own development in the current sectarian menagerie. Although there are some legitimately tough questions (the meaning of baptism and the mode of being harder for a consensus through the millennia), most of the other divisions are the product of man. Without a complete rehash here, I'm persuasion that most (maybe almost all) of this sectarian divisions are adults matured babies resulted in the Church of Corinth. Paul was still working with the Corinthians as Christians, but their choice for unauthorized by God delayed their divisions growth - limiting their scope spiritual mind - and kept them ... babies.
Let me give you a quick example of how the cult of Hero (now with a denominational structure surrounding the hero) has weakened the Church. The details of this are not what is important. The dynamic game point. It is repeated in different ways and problems in all sects, but the end result has the same net result and effect on the Church as a whole.
As a young Christian, I was a counselor at a drug and alcohol rehabilitation center. A customer came back to me - to question our imposed department-wide, Sabbath-keeping policy. He conveyed this passage: "What no one act as judge in matters of food or drink or in respect of a festival or a new moon or a Sabbath day - which are a shadow of what is to come, the body of Christ "(Colossians 2:16,17). The preacher who was behind the doctrine of the Department of Rehabilitation ... was a giant "in the faith. Dr. D. James Kennedy had thousands flocking to his church every week, based on world evangelization Explosion program, built a church which was the sign of the fish (Icthus "for those who fly) with a bell tower of the Cross which was the culmination of Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He had a radio and television ministry ... and often spoke Koine Greek memory pulpit. And a drunken man of recovery, which soon returned to his excesses, and scholar challenged the giant - and the management and board of our department rehabilitation? Was I to believe - this drink - or all announced, acclaimed training seminar of researchers over me? The answer is ... no. Challenge launched before me was the same as it always has been and always will be ... Search the Scriptures and "to consider carefully any to adhere to the good "(1 Thessalonians 5:21). In this case, the drunk soon relapse, was handling the Scriptures with accuracy. In fact, this name is entirely in the grave error of the law of Moses and its place and purpose-post cross. One problem with being a faithful religious (or worship of a hero within it) is that the sect itself is crippled to some extent because it cuts the Body of Christ who can not join, or spread, a characteristic stray sectarian group. In the example above, the CPA is clear on many issues, but on the law given Moses - they really botch things. But, as this error has been institutionalized, the debate ended scriptural. Many claim to be the first Christians, but their actions, especially when is pressed - committed to finding the name first. If a student is deemed guilty and denies the teacher's teaching, is the Lord will remember that persistence and communicate more deeply, precious treasure?
Retardant 3: The location of work
When Paul brought his message to Berea, we are told they "were more noble than the Thessalonians, for they received the word with great eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see if the claims were true Paul (AC17: 11). This work have need ... Working in the Bible. Too many professing Christians ... will ... not. They fall back on those they have pledged to tell them what to believe. After all, it's a big reason they were hired. In addition, "there is that many and interpretations of everything. "This is an excuse for laziness - if you can cling to ease personal opinion - and make God be the lazy way he wants to be. None of this can eventually lead a Christian in a broadminded.
Retardant 4: False prophets / false teachers
"The prophets prophesy lies in my name. I have neither sent them nor commanded them nor spoken to them, they prophesy to you a false vision, divination, futility and the deception of their own minds "(Jer 14:14). In this passage, four sources are listed from which these false messages appear. But for our purposes here, the sources are irrelevant - the reality is all that matters. Their message is an error. In the New Testament we are warned: "But false prophets also arose among people, just like there will be false teachers among you ... (2Pet 2:1). It's a promise. Again, the names, titles, letters Recommendation "(2 Cor 3:1), the style - all these things are the barnacles that should be removed - and the message contents weighed. The content is all that account. These Jews could have cared less that Paul said he was, or that others said he was, or style (or lack thereof) by which information has been delivered. And Paul, if in the Spirit, was happy with the mentality of the Bereans. And I do not think we teachers / preachers of today ... than Paul. Did you?
Delaying 5: Satan and the Teachings of Demons
There are very systematic presentations about God - from the fallen angels - to the man. The goal is singular: a move away from a clear understanding of who the real Jesus is - what he did - and what the appropriate response to it should be. "Now the Spirit expressly says that in later times some will fall away from the faith, paying attention to seducing spirits, even the teachings of demons ... for costumes, even Satan himself as an angel of light. Therefore, it is not surprising if his servants masquerade as servants of righteousness "(2 Cor 11:14,15 1Ti 4:1). The phrase translated" fall outside " refers to a Greek word composed Koine, "aphistemi." The components are, "apo" (motion away, having ever was), and "histemi" (standing). Thus, the Timothy passage describes people who are standing away from the faith Christian - have never been in it. But to maintain a Christian can not be deceived by demons theologically (for one season) is, in my opinion, an underestimation of these demons. Satan even came after Jesus with Scripture (Matthew 4:6) ... so, who do we think we are? I am convinced that many demons are the language of money, seasoned professionals with a cumulative knowledge and able to run very tight and targeted attacks. Many times they will work in the vessels apparently correct. This is all, "the wolf in sheepskin" dynamic (Mt 7:15 ET Acts 20:29).
Of course, how to avoid falling prey to some false message in the skies of deception is simple. "Be diligent to present yourself approved to God ... precise handling the word of truth ... examine everything carefully, to join the good "(2:15 ET 2Tim 1Th 5:21). Most importantly, the petition seriously God for precision in the understanding of his word is caution ... none. "But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without fault, and it will be given to him "(Ja 1:5). When thinking healthily, prostration is such a step.
God wants to be the holy able to destroy "speculations and all things high raised against the knowledge of God" (2 Cor 10:5). This includes any false religion and all "philosophy and empty deceit" human traditions (Col. 2:8). All errors, whether of man or devil, the Christian is to be able to deploy and to refute. Opposing materials must be precisely understood, disassembled and shipped. The word "Christian" and the phrase, "broad-minded" are synonymous.
Conclusion
In it, a "conclusion" does not often say, "The End". Each point above could be expanded exponentially. And conclusion of this article will never end. Here it is. Jesus once told his disciples the Spirit take her things "and provide for you" (Jn 16:14). Then, after rising from death, he has "opened their minds to understand the Scriptures "(Lk 24:45). The author of the Bible is that which allows accurately understand, and integrate their knowledge in a of own thinking. This is an activity initiated by God - due to person. But once started, there is no end to the width of the spirit a Christian can not reach. Go get him.
