Fix Bad Posture

You must fix bad posture because sitting on a chair for a long period of time can cause joint stiffness and also some weight gain that can affect your posture. Here are some tips that will help you fix bad posture and prevent you from having this problem.

How do we know that our posture is incorrect?

When you are standing up, your head, your back and your legs must be in a straight line. For you to know whether your body has the right posture you can use this exercise: hang a rope from the ceiling, get your back as close to that rope as you can  then look in the mirror to see how straight your back is. If the result doesn’t satisfy you, you should try some tips for fixing bad posture.

Fix Bad Posture – Best ways to fix bad posture and Tips for improving your posture

1) To Fix bad Posture At home
When you are at home you should make time for yourself every morning so you can do some basic stretching exercises. This can be very useful if you have a sedentary lifestyle. Look yourself in the mirror, analyze your posture and try to improve it. For example, you can do this while you are brushing your teeth in front of the mirror. Try to correct your back by pulling your shoulders and straining your abdominal muscles. Also you should avoid spending most of your time in your armchair or sofa. Though they look very comfortable, while you are sitting, your knees  get higher than your spine and that is why your back tends to curve. Instead you should spend a few minutes a day lying on the floor, without any mattresses or pillows.

2) To Fix Bad Posture At work
When at work, try not to make a habit of resting on the back of your chair. Instead you should bring your body to the front, slightly bending the lower back. This will prevent the pain you have to suffer because of too much time working on the computer. Do not sit cross-legged at the office, because in this position the pelvis and spine will not form a straight line. Also you should avoid heavy shoulder bags and replace them with backpacks that are placed on both shoulders.

Stretching exercises to help fix bad posture

Here are some exercises that can improve your bad posture. Stretch your arms forward, push your fingers and palms before joining. Then try an  exercise much like the previous one, only this time with arms raised above your head. Lie on floor with knees bent, feet flat on floor and hands on your side, palms on the floor. Bend your knees slightly to the right, but without separating your  left shoulder from  the floor. Turn your head left and try to relax in this position. Then repeat with your knees on the left side.

Tips for good posture while walking

You must keep your head elevated and positioned midway between the shoulders, eyes forward. Keep your shoulders  relaxed, but straight. Avoid pointing them out.  It is important to work your abdominal muscles to support the upper body and spine. For this, you must tighten your abdominal muscles and keep your stomach pulled (like when you hold your breath). Go back right, without getting hunched. Arms should be kept close to the body and elbows bent at ninety degrees. During walking, the arms must be in constant motion (front and rear), while moving in the opposite foot. Remember to keep your hands relaxed.

Techniques to improve posture

Bad posture can be fixed by using some mental and also spiritual techniques. This method improves mobility and strengthens muscles.  A survey  found out  that mental and physical  exercises are more effective than mild exercise usually performed to treat back pain. But the same study suggested that heavier the exercises get, your back problems can become worse. There are also great techniques which come from dancing. This form of exercise was  designed to help improve posture by strengthening muscles while dancing. Over time, muscles become stronger, thus protecting the vertebrae and ligaments.

Inactivity may be the cause of many spine problems. Orthopedics no longer recommend bed rest to those who report suffering from backache, but as  much exercise as they can do  to prevent muscle pain and maintaining a lean back. The incorrect position that you have over the years may have consequences on your outer appearance, and can also generate serious health problems, among which back pain. An incorrect posture favors the appearance of breathing difficulties, poor blood circulation and stretching of joints.

Incorrect position of the back can affect the digestive system, causing feelings of exhaustion or depression. Therefore you should try fixing bad posture by using some if the tips presented above. And remember that you can spend a lot of money on doctors and painkillers to fix bad posture but you can`t put a price on your health. Once you’ve lost it, it hard to get it back.

End Bad Neck Posture Pain by Improving Overall Posture

How Proper Posture Improves Your Spine Relieving Nerve Pressure to Bad Neck Posture

How does posture have anything to do with Bad Neck Posture?–Neck pain comes from pressure on the nerves. How does this happen?–Usually pressure from a misaligned neck spine. When your spine is misaligned (some call that subluxated) it does not move like it should and in turn creates inflammation in that area. Either out-of-alignment spinal vertebrae (spinal bones) put direst pressure on nerves or the inflammation, or built up degeneration causes the pressure.

The most common misaligned postural pattern in the neck that will result in bad neck posture, stiffness and lack of mobility is forward head carriage. This is when the head posture is forward of the shoulders and almost always reveals loss of the normal neck alignment or curvature.

In the neck spine we should have a well defined neck C-curve of approximately 40-60 degrees. Anything less and there is unwanted pressure on the nerves. Pain is often a sign that there is pressure on the nervous system but not all of that system is designed to feel pain so you may be pain free yet still have improper alignment.

With people today, more than ever we are seeing misaligned and bad neck posture and a curve of the neck curve flattening or straightening and protruding out forward. One of the reasons is that more and more people these days are on computers for long hours. Many jobs now require you to be on a computer continually, and even the people without a desk job are on the computer for hours on end; nights, weekends, mornings, you name it.

Also, more people are on the road driving and have very bad neck posture. When driving, the majority of people’s heads, over the time traveling, drift forward. Some people are affected worse than others. Just recently I looked to my left while at a light and the woman next to me had both hands on the wheel with what looked like a death grip, and she just looked like her muscles were extremely tense and her head was about 6 inches forward of her shoulders. These are just a couple examples, others are: Poor sleeping habits, holding a phone on your shoulder for long periods, reading or studying with your head down often, etc… often lead to bad neck posture.

Guilty of some of these examples or often suffer from neck pain?

Here’s how to improve your neck posture-

  • Postural exercises for the neck
  • Eliminating bad posture as much as possible
  • A good support neck pillow for sleeping.

These to do’s all help correct and maintain the proper alignment of the spine. Our spines are ergonomically built to withstand the forces of gravity. When looking at an individual from the front or back, the spine is straight should be up and down. From the side however we have distinct curvatures that are there for a reason – so our spinal cord is relaxed with no tension and our nerve roots coming off the spinal cord have no pressure and interference. Our spine is at it’s strongest position with this alignment as well. And don’t forget, why is it important we are in optimal alignment? Not only because it is the most beneficial for strength of our spine but because it is the healthiest position as well. Putting any pressure on nerves will decrease the bodies ability to perform at it’s maximum. Any pressure on nerves decreases your body’s function and therefore helps relieve bad neck posture.

The best postural exercise to eliminate forward head posture are Head Retractions. Pretend your head is on a sliding track and pull your head back keeping it level. For example sit fully back against a wall or chair pull your head straight back without tilting or extending your head until you touch the wall, top of chair or headrest in your car.

Eliminate forward head posture as much as possible. Notice if your head is drifting forward; usually you may feel strain in the muscles of the back of your neck. Read with books propped up against something, take periodic breaks when working on the computer or driving for long periods. Sit up straighter, and keep your head up-right.

At night, you can not only protect yourself from poor posture but also can literally improve it as well, while you sleep. If you use a good support pillow like the Cervical Traction Neck Pillow you can correct neck posture while resting comfortably. Sleeping on your back or side is perfectly fine. Stomach sleeping is not good because you have to crank your head to on side or another to breathe. Individuals who commonly sleep on their stomachs will find themselves waking up often with a sore, stiff, painful neck.

Be more aware of your posture to improve your Bad Neck Posture. Poor posture means a poor spine and therefore pressure on nerves that will not only just cause neck pain but can cause other problems as well. The easiest way to start improving neck pain and neck posture is to use the proper neck pillow. The Cervical Linear Traction Pillow can be found at Cervical Traction Neck Pillow.

This stretching movements will help you continue the normal free movements as it used to be.

Bad neck pain can also be caused by doing overhead workouts or work involving the use of the upper body and arms like lifting weights or holding the head in a difficult, awkward, or frontward position for a long period of time, whilst performing activities like using the laptop, reading, clasping the telephone receiver, or playing video games. Catnapping in an upright position, falling asleep with the neck positioned awkwardly, an extremely flat or very high pillow, or using an upright fist or the arm as a head support frequently lead to neck pain.

Something else a person can try to avoid bad neck pain is applying a cold compress to bring about pain relief as this would reduce inflammation and help to numb the pain. Tension in the muscles surrounding the neck is often caused due to emotional stress. So identifying the causes for stress can go a long way to reduce neck pain. Learning to relax helps relieve tension in the neck. Sit in or better still lie down in a calm quiet place. Gently close your eyes and consciously begin by tensing and relaxing the muscles starting from your neck to the base of your feet. Concentrate on every part of your body. This is a great way to relax.

Besides bad neck pain also caused due to health conditions, such as age related complications. Disc disorders happen on account of the disk padding between the neck vertebrae turning dry, frequently because of aging, and this leads to the narrowing of space close to the nerves. Now, herniated neck disks arise when the gelatinous material inside a disk projects through the hard disk casing and can aggravate nerves close by or give rise to a pinched nerve.

Lower Back Pain in Early Pregnancy

Lower Back pain in early pregnancy can be a source of discomfort and irritation. It generally occurs around the waist and the middle of the back. It is estimated that around 50% of the would-be mothers suffer from it.

Causes

1. Physiological changes

Progesterone hormone that prepares the uterus for the fertilized ovum and maintains pregnancy, softens and relaxes the ligaments in the pelvic bones, joints and discs in the spinal column that supports the upper body of the woman. The pliant structures often make it difficult for them to climb up stairs without feeling pain in the back.

It may also be noted that the softening of the joints and ligaments in the pelvic region makes the delivery of the child easier at the time of birth.

2. Urinary infection

Infection in the urinary tract may also cause back pain in the early pregnancy.

3. Change in the centre of gravity

The gradual growth in the size of uterus causes the centre of gravity in a woman’s body to shift forward. She tends to make adjustments in her posture to facilitate her movements. This may result in back pain.

Prevention and treatment

Posture

It is important that pregnant women should maintain proper posture as they sit, stand, sleep, walk and work. It is always better to avoid staying in the same position continuously. If you are sitting in a chair, you may take a break by standing or walking for a short while.

Rest

Rest is a great remedy for most common back pains. It is even more important for pregnant women. Most women find it difficult to sleep during early pregnancy, but you should still try to lie down for some time every day. Place a pillow under your legs to relieve tension upon the lower back area.

Exercises and activity

Pregnant women need to remain active, but not over-active to avoid back pain. Learn correct aerobic exercises to increase the influx of oxygen into your body. Simple stretching and some cardiovascular exercises can keep away the back pain. It is better to consult your health expert about the exercises that suit you best.

Back Pain Between Shoulder Blades—Causes and Treatment

Pain in the upper back and shoulder blades can be excruciating. It may be a referred or local pain.

Causes

Anatomy of the shoulder

Shoulders form an important part of the upper back. Their anatomy makes them highly vulnerable to pain due to sprain, strains, tears and inflammation. The muscles and ligaments in the shoulder joints can themselves be the cause of back pain.

Rotator cuff

A rotator cuff is made up of four main muscles. It binds the shoulders joints together and is very sensitive to tension and stress.

Bursae

The movement of the shoulder blades is also controlled by small sacks of fluid called bursae. The bursae can become swollen, infected and inflamed leading to acute pain at the point of shoulder.

Neck and arm

Arthritis and disc herniation in the neck can lead to pinched nerves. The resultant pain is referred to the shoulder blades.

Trigger points

The trigger points in the front and side muscles of the neck often cause annoying pain in the shoulder blades in the upper back. It is known only to very few people that some times the upper back pain is caused by these trigger points.

Trigger points located under the arm can also cause pain at the lower tip of the shoulder and the middle back.

The role of trapezius muscles

The movements of the shoulders are also controlled by the two triangle shaped trapezius muscles which together form a trapezoid.

The trapezius muscle lies at the back of the neck and covers the shoulders. It makes the two shoulders blades move towards the midline in the back. It also rotates them and makes them move up and down.

The muscle is very sensitive to anxieties, frustrations, tension, stress and poor posture. Sitting in the same position over long hours in the office or driving the car shortens and tightens the fibers in the trapezius muscle. It develops spasms that send shooting pains to the shoulders.

If there is a pain under the shoulder blade, it may be a warning that it is being triggered by some other organ of the body. For example, it may be referred by some problem in the stomach or the heart. Heart attacks often cause pain in the shoulders.

Treatment

Initial back and shoulder blade pain caused by spasms or stains can be cured by simple exercises that rotate the neck and shoulders or move them up and down. It may also go away by applying balm or massage upon the affected areas including the trapezius or taking over-the-counter medicines.

You should consult your physician, if the pain refuses to go away by such home treatment.

Are you suffering from back and shoulder blade pain? It does not matter that you have suffered from it for 10, 15 or even 30 years. You would be completely cured in just 21 days even if you are a lost case. Click Here Right Now to learn more about how you can get fast and permanent relief from any kind of back pain.
